The sophisticated AK4490 D/A converter from Asahi Kasai Microdevices together with the AK4137 sample rate converter are responsible for outstanding resolution, soundstaging, ‘air’ & imaging of Pre Box DS2 Digital. Control over upsampling of all incoming digital signals to PCM 768kHz/DSD256 with the ‘Sound Modes’ button allows you to shape what you hear based on your preferences.
Three sound modes and five digital filters amount to fifteen total listening experiences at your fingertips! Adding an MM/MC-capable phono preamplifier as well as a line-level input for another analog source makes Pre Box DS2 the picture of versatility at no expense to sonics. It doesn’t stop there, however… Four analog outputs (fixed, variable, subwoofer, headphone) together with S/PDIF optical digital, asynchronous USB and aptX Bluetooth make Pre Box DS2 digital more versatile still. It fulfills every need the modern audiophile might be confronted with.
