The 2MR series are specially designed for turntables and tonearms like Rega, matching their requirement for low formfactor cartridges. The cartridges fit onto the tonearm without need for spacers or other modifications.
For its price point, the Ortofon 2M Red is an excellent phono cartridge, that delivers very high quality audio from your vinyl records. While its level of detail is not on par with the 2M Bronze, its rendition comes off as very easy going and relaxed. This is an excellent choice for the audiophile on a budget and people who just plain love music.
When it’s time, the stylus on the 2M Red can easily be exchanged. The replacement styli are interchangeable across the 2M range, making it possible to replace it with a stylus from one of the more expensive models. The 2M Blue and 2M Silver styli would be a perfect option here.
The eye-catching appearance of the 2M series cartridges have been designed by the Danish company Møller Jensen Design, and is inspired by the contours and shapes of a diamond.
