Affordable Moving Coil Cartridge
With the MC X series, Danish company Ortofon once again raises the bar for what can be expected in this price range when investing in a moving coil cartridge. The MC X20 is equipped with a nude elliptical stylus mounted on an aluminum cantilever and offers a great entry point into the world of MC-type cartridges at its price.
The Ortofon MC X series consists of four different models, each delivering outstanding performance in their respective price categories. The basic design and construction are identical across the models, with differences lying in the type of stylus, the cantilever material, and consequently the final performance the cartridge can deliver. The overall body design of the MC X models from Ortofon is a completely new design, which makes use of MiM technology (Metal Injection Molding). The frame is made of stainless steel, ensuring superior mechanical stability, which is ideal for such a sensitive piece of technology as a cartridge. After molding and sintering, the chassis is surface-treated to ensure long durability and an attractive finish.
For the MC X series, Ortofon has developed an entirely new magnet system which, combined with pure silver coils, helps ensure high signal integrity. The sound is precise, transparent, and full of detail—and the further you go up the range, the more complete the overall experience becomes.
