Rega Ania MC
Ambitious moving coil cartridge inspired by the high-end Apheta model
The Apheta and Ania share a lot of similarities. Not only do they look alike, but the work and precision engineering required to make them, is the same. It’s an incredibly advanced design with an amazing attention to detail, with hand a hand wound coil and a unique rhomboid pivot for the cantilever, powered by a high-quality Neodymium magnet system.
To cut the costs and make the Ania MC less expensive than the Apheta, Rega had to make a few changes in terms of the materials used. The aluminum body of the Apheta was simply too expensive, so instead Rega decided on using a polymer/glass combination known as polyphenylene sulphide. With 40% glass, this material could be moulded into the desired shape, and thereby saving a not insignificant amount of money.
The Rega Ania MC is recommended for use with Rega Planar and RP series turntables from the Planar 3 to the Planar 8.
