Noble Audio Fokus Apollo
Wireless Headphone
Noble Audio launched its first product over 10 years ago, namely the highly praised In-Ear Monitor K-10, which received countless top reviews. Since then, the focus has been on the design and development of IEMs in the high, and sometimes very high, price range, where Noble Audio has been among the most respected manufacturers. Now the time has come for them to introduce a regular wireless headphone, and the Fokus Apollo is certainly giving established players in the market a run for their money!
Hybrid driver technology
Most headphones today are either dynamic or planar-magnetic, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. But what happens if you combine the two technologies in one headphone? – The answer is Fokus Apollo. It is equipped with a hybrid driver that combines a 40mm dynamic unit with a 14.4mm planar-magnetic unit. While the planar-magnetic driver can deliver class-leading resolution, detail, and airiness, it is not capable of moving as much air and delivering the bass reproduction associated with large dynamic drivers. This is compensated for by letting the dynamic driver reproduce the lower frequency range, where the planar-magnetic membrane simply cannot deliver the same depth and dynamics.
Audio quality first
Noble Audio is a true Head-Fi company. In the sense that it's the only thing they focus on. But the road to high-quality sound is not paved with poor source material, so it has also been important for Noble Audio to equip the Fokus Apollo with the right Bluetooth formats so that the sound being transmitted to the headphones is of the best possible quality. The headphone supports aptX, aptX HD, AAC, and LDAC, which supports up to 32-bit/96kHz via Bluetooth. The headphone can also be used with a cable, and a 3.5mm cable is included for just that purpose.
Active noise cancellation
Fokus Apollo is a closed wireless headphone, which allows for active noise cancellation that dampens voices, engine noise, etc., around you. The headphone uses a hybrid ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), which, through microphones on both the inside and outside of the Fokus Apollo, can measure noise and cancel it before it reaches your ears. It's a very welcome feature that can make the listening experience a bit better when you're on a plane, a train, or in the office. However, sound quality is negatively affected using ANC. This applies to all headphones with this feature, regardless of brand, without exception. So, when you really want to sit down and enjoy the highest possible audio quality, and there's no need for noise cancellation, turn it off and experience what the Fokus Apollo is truly capable of delivering.
Up to 80 hours of battery life
The batterylife of the Noble Audio Fokus Apollo in wireless mode is up to 80 hours without ANC, and up to 60 hours with ANC activated. A USB cable is included for charging, but you need to provide your own charger. You can simply use the one that came with your smartphone or tablet. In addition, you also get a carrying case, the previously mentioned 3.5mm cable with a 6.3mm adapter, a flight adapter, and a microphone that can be mounted on the headphone if, for example, you use it for gaming. The headphone is made from quality materials, including anodized aluminum, replaceable memory foam pads, and an Alcantara headband. Fokus Apollo is compatible with Noble Audio's app for smartphones, which allows for customization of several settings.
