10mm ferro-fluid dynamic driver

The Technics EAH-AZ100 is packed with features and technology, but one of the most important, in our opinion, is the upgrade of the dynamic driver. The 10mm unit has been enhanced with the addition of magnetic fluid, a technology borrowed from Technics’ high-end TZ700 earphones. The fluid is injected between the unit’s magnet and voice coil, helping ensure optimal movement without loss of strength and preventing the magnet from overheating. Most importantly, the magnetic fluid also reduces sound distortion by dampening mechanical vibrations. The quality of the driver is crucial for the sound quality you’ll experience with the EAH-AZ100. In addition to the driver, Technics has also worked on the earphones’ design and construction, including optimizing the acoustic control chamber to improve airflow.

Three-device multi-point connectivity - LDAC for Hi-Res audio

With the introduction of the EAH-AZ100, Technics is also the first manufacturer of wireless earphones to offer multipoint connection with up to 3 devices. This means you can be connected to your phone, tablet, and computer simultaneously, making it very easy to switch between them. The earphones can even notify you when a device is nearby and ready to connect, making it simple to switch from one to another—or to a third. Technics is also among the first to offer the new Bluetooth LC3 codec, which is used when the wireless connection is weak or unstable. Previously, this task was handled by the SBC codec, which is notorious for its poor sound quality. In comparison, LC3 is significantly better and has a low latency that’s perfect for gaming or watching movies. There’s also support for Bluetooth AAC, used by Apple products, ensuring a stable connection with high sound quality. If you have a smartphone or similar device that supports Bluetooth LDAC, you can enjoy the absolute best Bluetooth connection available. LDAC supports audio up to 24-bit/96kHz at a data rate of 990kbps.

With the accompanying Technics Audio Connect app, available for iPhone and Android, you can customize the earphones in various ways. You get an 8-band equalizer to adjust the sound as needed, either with presets or your custom settings. You can also choose to use Direct Mode, which bypasses all signal processing, giving you the pure sound exactly as intended during production in the studio.

The earphones come with a charging case, a short USB-C cable for charging, and eartips in five sizes.
