iFI Audio xDSD Gryphon
Premium portable headphone amplifier with built-in battery
With xDSD Gryphon, iFI Audio delivers a top-tuned version of their popular xDSD headphone amplifier, with no-compromise design. Some combined DAC / headphone amplifiers compromise on either the digital or analog stage, but not the xDSD Gryphon - exactly as its namesake, the winged hybrid lion eagle Gryphon, you’ll get the best of both worlds.. iFI Audio xDSD Gryphon is designed with separate stages for Bluetooth, DAC and amplifier, each optimized to perform at their absolut best.
True Native DAC chipset from Burr Brown
iFI Audio xDSD Gryphon is based on a True Native DAC chipset from Burr Brown, the same model thats found in their pinnacle Pro iDSD Signature. It handles everything you can throw at it when it comes to file formats, sample and bit rates. PCM is supported up to 768kHz, DSD up to 512 and full decoding of MQA files is performed with an LED that lights up blue for indication of correct decoding The above formats are accepted over the USB connection. The coaxial mini-S/PDIF input accepts PCM up to 192kHz as well as DOP (DSD over PCM) streams. A choice of three digital filters can be activated. There is Bit-Perfect for the purist who just wants the 1: 1 sound reproduction, standard and GTO which optimizes on transient reproduction.
CyberSync Volume Control
To get the best possible connection from the source to the xDSD Gryphon, iFI Audio has implemented their CyberSync volume control. It is a digitally controlled analog volume control that automatically detects the type of software that the source is running. For example, xDSD Gryphon knows when it connects to a Windows computer, after which it instructs operating system to bypass its software-based volume control. It enables the xDSD Gryphon to handle all volume adjustment in the analog domain.
There’s also two analog inputs, in the form of a 3.5mm and a 4.4mm Pentaconn. So you can actually connect a turntable (with phono stage) or tape recorder to the xDSD Gryphon. Very impressive, considering its size.
Best of the Bluetooth World
Bluetooth is supported in its very best variants, so that regardless of the source, you get the best possible wireless audio experience. For the sake of it, we’ll mention SBC (ordinary, boring Bluetooth) AAC and aptX / aptX HD and LDAC as well as LHDC which both support Hi-Res sound over Bluetooth. In short, one of the most well-equipped Bluetooth headphone amplifiers you can get your hands on.
With Power Comes Great Performance
With no less than 1,000mW of power at 32 Ohms, thanks to iFI Audio's PureWave technology, there are not many headphones that the iFI Audio xDSD Gryphon can not handle. Choice between single-ended 3.5mm or balanced 4.4mm Pentaconn, ensures the best possible connection and performance, depending on the headphone. xDSD Gryphon can of course also be used with IEM (in-ear monitors) and they have even implemented their excellent iEMatch solution which reduces noise that can occur when using highly sensitive IEMs.
High-quality OLED display
One of the major upgrades from the smaller xDSD, is without a doubt the large OLED display on top of the xDSD Gryphon. It provides all the information you may need including remaining battery power, the active connection type, incoming file format and more. iFI Audio has used their SilentLine technology to ensure that the OLED display does not transmit electrical noise to the sensitive audio components. And if you want to be completely sure, you can also turn off the display.
Battery Powered - For Portabilty and High Performance
The iFI Audio xDSD Gryphon is equipped with a battery so you can take it on the go without having to rely on an electrical outlet nearby. But the benefit of being portable is certainly not the only one from being battery powered. The bbttery provides a much more stable power supply without voltage fluctuations and you are free from the noise inherent to power lines, and also the noise introduced by refrigerators, etc. on your grid.
