iFI Audio AC iPurifier
AC iPurifier from iFi is an active power conditioner that simply plugs into your power strip or outlet, after which noise from the mains is lowered by up to 40 dB! Does it work? Yes, it certainly does!
Power enhancements for Hi-Fi are available in wide price range, but the small, active AC iPurifier from iFi Audio is definitely one of the cheaper ones - and more efficient - we've tried! This is because the AC iPurifier actively measures the noise in the mains and sends out an opposite signal in exactly the reverse phase, which cancels the noise that was on the mains. The result is audible as well as measurable - you get up to 40 dB lower noise level on the mains, giving all electronic components in your Hi-Fi better working conditions, which can be heard! Normal, passive current filters filter almost only on high frequency signals, but the AC iPurifier filters the entire frequency range, lowering the noise level by what is equivalent to about one hundred times more than a conventional passive filter. You simply find that the music suddenly sounds natural and effortless, there is less static and 'dust' in the soundscape, so instruments and voices can easily be separated and stand out crystal clear. What the AC iPurifier doesn't do is hamper the dynamics, change the sound balance or make it sound more synthetic - instead you experience the sound as it should have been. The result can of course vary depending on how much noise you have on the mains at home.
Using the AC iPurifier is easy, you simply plug it in your power strip and voila! If you have ground in the power strip, it is perfect, and it tells you with two green dots, whether it is properly connect - but it also works convincingly in ordinary power strips without ground. iFi Audio reports you that you can use several AC iPurifiers in the same power strip for even greater efficiency. You can also ground any device to it, and it will actively create a ground connection if your system needs one, but without risking a ground loop.
