This radiation free, fully shielded aluminum design offers non-intrusive filtering and multi-way surge protection. This SPC version is wired with silver plated OFC copper wires.
Highlights of this Supra Mains Block
- Supra Non-Intrusive Filtering
- Multi-way Surge Protection
- Aluminum casing
- Schuko type sockets
- Silver plated internal wiring
The Supra Mains Blocks come in different versions. They are available with or without surge protection and with a different number of available sockets. The name of the mains block is the key to decode the features: Example: Supra MD06-EU SP – MD = Mains Distributor, 06 = the number of sockets, EU = Schuko type sockets and SP means Surge Protection. Versions with built-in DC filtering are indicated by DC in the name. Additionally, SPC versions are available. These are internally wired with silver plated OFC copper and come in an all-black design.
Supra NIF Transient Filter
The mains block comes with an effective non-intrusive filter circuitry which provides a mild electrical noise and radio frequency filtering. Supra’s NIF filter does not impact the dynamics of the audio system, but only affects noise that could otherwise be transferred to connected Hi-Fi separates. Of the sockets provided on the mains block, the first one is designed without NIF and is intended for use with amplifiers. Remaining sockets are recommended for use with sources like CD players, network audio player, etc. For the NIF filter to work, the mains block must be connected to a properly grounded outlet or wall socket with earth terminal.
Mains block with surge protection
The mains block comes with multi-way surge protection. Other manufacturers only offer one-way surge protection, i.e. only between the live and neutral lead from the power source. Supra offers a three-way surge protection, protecting your equipment from lightning strikes, surges on the power grid, etc. When properly installed, this mains block can save you thousands of Euros in damaged equipment, should there be a case of high fluctuations of voltage. For the surge protection to function, the mains block must be connected to a properly grounded outlet or wall socket with a with earth terminal. Do not use any other grounding points than the one provided in the wall socket. When properly installed, the green Surge LED will light up, indicating that ground connection has been made.
Combine with the right cables and connector
To get the most out of your Supra mains block, you will need the proper mains cables for connecting the mains block to an electrical outlet with ground. We recommend that you use a shielded mains cable with a ground lead and a wall socket connector with three prongs, or a Schuko type connector with two prongs and socket ground, depending on the type of outlet standard in your country. Supra offers a range of mains cables with Schuko type connector.
Depending on the version of the mains block, you will need a cable with either IEC C13 or IEC C19 connector installed. Please refer to this overview:
MD03-EU/SP (3 sockets) - Needs 10 amp IEC C13 mains cable
MD04-EU/SP (4 sockets) - Needs 10 amp IEC C13 mains cable
MD06-EU/SP (6 sockets) - Needs 10 amp IEC C13 mains cable
MD08-EU/SP (8 sockets) - Needs 16 amp IEC C19 mains cable
MD10-EU/SP (10 sockets) - Needs 16 amp IEC C19 mains cable
MD15-EU/SP (15 sockets) - Needs 16 amp IEC C19 mains cable
If you live in a country that has not adopted the Schuko standard, you will need to replace the mains connector on the Supra cables or use an adapter with ground. Alternatively, you will have to purchase a cable designed for use in your country. Unfortunately we only offer Schuko type cables.
