With the introduction of the Saturn MK3 CD player, Rega improves on their mid-tier CD player, with enhanced DAC features, upgraded CD section power supply and much more. If you’re looking to get a CD player in this price class, the Saturn MK3 should be be on your shortlist. The upgraded design complements Rega’s newest line of products, including the Elicit MK5.
This revision of the Saturn CD player offers a wide range of versatile features on top of its main functionality of playing Compact Discs. It’s equipped with dual Wolfson WM8742 DACs to extract every bit of information from the source, whether it’s a CD or an external source like a PC or Mac computer. I/O includes optical TosLink, electrical coaxial S/PDIF and a USB input for computer-based audio. All inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM streams, and five digital filters gives you the option of making subtle, but audible changes to the way the DAC massages the digital audio stream.
As a CD player, the Rega Saturn MK3 offers the features you expect, including programming, shuffle, repeat one and repeat all. All of these can be controlled using the supplied Solaris remote control.
