Can't decide which of your favorite CDs should go in the player? – Then the solution is the Yamaha CD-C603, a high-quality CD changer with room for no less than five CDs at once. There are many smart features in the Yamaha CD-C603, but one surprising one is the ‘Play X Change’ function – it allows you to swap out CDs in the tray *without interrupting the playback of the CD currently playing.
As a typical Yamaha product, the CD-C603 also focuses on true Hi-Fi sound. The changer is developed with an emphasis on ‘True Sound’ – Yamaha’s unique approach to sound and how it should be presented. This philosophy is based on decades of development not only in Hi-Fi equipment and speakers, but also grand pianos and other musical instruments. Yamaha is in a unique position to produce every link in the audio chain with a focus on authentic reproduction of what was recorded in the studio. On the front panel, you'll also find a ‘Pure Direct’ button, which turns off the digital output and the display to prevent interference from digital signals with the sensitive analog circuitry.
In addition to standard CDs (Compact Discs), the Yamaha CD-C603 can also play audio files stored on a USB stick. This can be plugged into the front of the player. Note that there are requirements for disk formatting and limitations regarding file formats. These are all detailed in the included manual, but in general, the player supports WAV, MP3, and FLAC files on a USB stick formatted in FAT32.
The Yamaha CD-C603 is equipped with both analog outputs and a single digital output. Typically, the analog output is used to connect to an amplifier. However, if you have a higher-end model from Yamaha, for example, with a digital input, you can connect the CD-C603 digitally via TosLink and let the amplifier’s DAC handle the digital-to-analog conversion.
