KEF’s signature coaxial driver, the Uni-Q is now in its 12. generation and better than ever. With the addition of the newly developed MAT technology, this enables performance that is previously unheard of in this category, at this price. The MAT, or Metamaterial Absorption Technology, is revolutionary tool, developed in with the Acoustic Metamaterials Group. It’s basically a disc that sits on the rear of the coaxial driver, to reduce distortion due to sound travelling from the rear of the tweeter, to the inside of the cabinet. The disc is designed with an extremely complex, maze-like structure that essentially acts as a black hole, sucking up 99% of the unwanted sound coming from the rear of the tweeter. The result is less distortion, less coloration and much higher audio quality.
