Compared to the smaller PM5005 (now discontinued) the PM6007 is equipped with digital inputs, enabling you to connect a digital source via optical or coaxial S/PDIF. The digital section is based on a solution from Asahi Kasei, featuring the well-known AK4490 chip, which excels in delivering incredible detail with a hint of warmth and glow. The inputs support PCM signals up to 24-bit 192kHz, making it ideal for use with a network player, CD or Blu-ray player, or your TV. Marantz has chosen to remove the 'loudness' button found on the front of its predecessor and replaced it with a 'filter' button. This allows you to switch between two digital filters on the AK4490 chip, choosing between a slow roll-off that enhances stereo perspective and depth, or a sharp roll-off that increases precision.
With a powerful toroidal power supply and Marantz’s legendary HDAM circuitry, you are guaranteed excellent performance with 2 x 45 watts at 8 Ohms.
