The Reference edition Model 404 improves on the already spectacular standard edition, by improving on the power supply section. The standard Model 404 raises its capacitance from 57000uf to an incredible 107000uf, with 21000 reserved for the pre-amp stage. The power supply upgrade further improves on the dynamic character, level of detail and offers an even deeper and more articulate soundstage, with greater bass authority.
The result of more than three years of research, the model 404 integrated amplifier from Swedish audio specialists Moonriver Audio, is an incredibly agile performer. Thanks to a hefty power section, the amplifier offers an immense amount of dynamics, punching way above what should be expected from a 2 x 50 watts amplifier. Model 404 Reference extracts hidden elements and renders textures from any audio format, with the source, speakers and room being the only real limit of performance.
The 404 Reference’s clean aesthetics offer user-friendly control of input selection, volume, etc. without complicated menus. The interface is user-oriented and can be easily operated by anyone, without the need for a complicated user manual. The classic design is made from high-quality materials like aluminum and walnut.
Moonriver Audio Model 404 Reference comes with five single-ended analog inputs. It can be fitted with either an MM only or an MM+MC phono stage. A USB DAC module will also be available at a later date. All modules can be fitted at the time of purchase or after.
