Hi-Fi Streaming Amplifier
With the launch of the S14, Rotel finally steps into the market with a high-quality streaming Hi-Fi amplifier. While previous models were limited to Bluetooth streaming, the new Rotel S14 comes equipped with serious streaming capabilities.
Powerful Amplifier and High-Quality DAC
The integrated streaming amplifier, Rotel S14, is equipped with powerful 2 x 150-watt class-A/B amplification, and as expected from Rotel, it features a high-current toroidal transformer that ensures a stable power supply to the output stages. You get a single set of analog inputs—who really needs more today?—along with coaxial S/PDIF, optical TosLink, and USB inputs, allowing other digital sources to take advantage of the excellent built-in DAC from ESS. A USB input on the rear also allows you to connect a USB stick with music files, though note that it supports a maximum storage size of 32GB.
Plenty of Streaming Options
In terms of streaming, the Rotel S14 supports both Tidal and Qobuz, with high-resolution file decoding from both services. If you have a Roon server on your network, you can stream your music library directly from Roon to the Rotel S14. Bluetooth and Chromecast are also integrated into the Rotel S14, allowing you to send audio from your smart device, computer, or similar. It supports both AAC and aptX HD Bluetooth for high-quality streaming. The elegant display on the front of the amplifier provides useful information about the music being played, including album artwork. For Apple users, you'll be pleased to know that this amplifier supports Apple AirPlay, streaming via Wi-Fi at up to 24-bit/48kHz. Android users can instead take advantage of the Chromecast Built-In function, which also allows high-quality Wi-Fi streaming.
