Yamaha A-S3200
Integrated High-end amplifier
Japanese Yamaha is one of the classic Hi-Fi brands with which we have always had a close relationship at Tape Connection. You can always count on the products just working, and being produced to the very highest standards that the price range allows.
Highlights of the Yamaha A-S3200
- Well-thought-out design and lay-out
- First class components
- Incredibly beautiful retro design
- A 'music first' High-end amplifier
At the very top end of Yamaha's Hi-Fi range, we find an integrated amplifier which is the culmination of decades of experience in the development and production of Hi-Fi equipment, and more than 100 years as a manufacturer of grand pianos. The Yamaha A-S3200 is the epitome of classic Hi-Fi of the highest class, where every single component is meticulously selected, tested, listened to and carefully implemented. Even the design of the amplifier recalls classic seventies Hi-Fi with the dancing VU meters behind the clear glass, illuminated so you can enjoy the analogue their dance moves even in dim lighting. Yamaha says it so well: Authentic Hi-Fi is less about listening to the audio equipment and more about letting the equipment disappear and letting the artist step forward. This is possible with the A-S3200.
Stuffed with top-shelf components
With a weight of just under 25kg and a depth of 46cm, the Yamaha A-S3200 is a proper bugger. But it is not designed to be big for the sake of it, stuffed with empty air and equally empty promises. Inside the casing, you'll find a cornucopia of top-shelf components, including high-quality capacitors and an oversized toroidal power supply optimized for performance with minimal voltage leakage and energy loss. The large block capacitors are equipped with gold-plated terminals in oxygen-free copper, fixed with brass screws. Even the cables connecting the output terminals to the speakers have received extra attention, where Yamaha has used their PC-Triple C cable, which has a linear structure, for a silky-smooth signal integrity.
Fully balanced design for highest fidelity
The Yamaha A-S3200 is a fully balanced construction from inputs to outputs. The result is an impressively low signal-to-noise ratio which ensures that the entire silent passages in the music are just that; completely silent. No background noise, whirring or buzzing - just a completely black backdrop on which the music is woven with the finest thread, in a stunning pattern. The balanced construction of the Yamaha A-S3200 also provides a terrific channel separation and soundstage, which lets the listener transport themselves right into the heart of the music. All of this is packed in a cabinet which once again underlines the seriousness that has been put forward with this amplifier. Yamaha's Mechanical Basic Concept, which includes a strong bracing of the cabinet, where both the power supply, block capacitors and cooling fins are bolted to the chassis, contributes to a strong reduction of mechanical vibration. The result is increased dynamics and deep, melodic bass. The cabinet is fitted with strong, silver-plated feet turned in brass.
Connectivity options
When it comes to connection from other devices, the Yamaha A-S3200 is extremely well equipped. There are however only analogue inputs here, but you also get four of them as single-ended RCA, and two pairs of balanced inputs with XLR connectors. Loudspeakers are connected via heavy-duty brass terminals for optimal connection. Yamaha has also equipped the A-S3200 with a high-quality phono stage, so you can connect a turntable without any additional amplification, with support for both MM and MC type cartridges.
A remote control for the amplifier is included, but Yamaha's extremely complete design and material quality make you want to operate the functions with your fingers directly on the amplifier's rocker switches and knobs. And that is precisely the whole point of the Yamaha A-S3200 – to engage you as a music lover and draw you completely into the world of music where you are very close to the original recording, and very close to the artist.
