Advanced streaming features
The streaming platform inside the T+A Symphonia is based on the company’s 3rd generation ASA (Audiophile Streaming Architecture), which delivers every bit of your digital streaming sources at the highest possible level. With the right subscription, you can stream music from online services such as Deezer, Qobuz, and Tidal, giving you direct access to millions of tracks in the best possible quality. However, you can also stream music from a network-stored music library or a USB drive, supporting files up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD512. Integrated streaming via Bluetooth aptX HD and Apple AirPlay makes it easy and user-friendly to listen to music from your portable devices. As of now, the device is also undergoing certification for Roon. DAB and FM radio are also among the many features of the Symphonia.
Connectivity for external sources
However, streaming is not the only way to listen to music on the T+A Symphonia. Of course, there are also a number of physical connection options, allowing you to connect external devices to the amplifier. You get a set of analog RCA inputs and a set of inputs for turntables, supporting MM-type cartridges. Naturally, digital inputs are also included. These consist of a coaxial S/PDIF input, an optical TosLink input, an HDMI input with ARC (Audio Return Channel), and a USB-C input. T+A is known for prioritizing digital processing in their products, and the Symphonia is no exception. The conversion stage in this device is equipped with two separate D/A stages, which activate depending on the type of incoming signal. For standard PCM sources up to 32-bit/384kHz, conversion is handled by two 32-bit DACs. DSD files, on the other hand, are processed separately in a true 1-bit converter, ensuring the highest authenticity to the original recording. On the output side, there are options for connecting an external power amplifier as well as outputs for subwoofers. Network connectivity can be established via cable or Wi-Fi.
Class-D amplifier design
The T+A Symphonia is a Class-D design, equipped with Eigentakt amplifiers from Danish company Purifi, specially adapted in-house by T+A for this specific product. Historically, digital amplifiers have often been limited by signal distortion, phase noise, and increased harmonic distortion at high volumes. The amplifier technology in the Symphonia is in a completely different league, not only eliminating these drawbacks but also elevating the technology to a whole new level. The output power is no less than 250 watts at 4 Ohms, with a halving at 8 Ohms. As a result, there are very few speakers that cannot be driven optimally when paired with this amplifier.
