Rega Brio MK7
Integrated Amplifier
The British brand Rega has always had success with its small Brio amplifier, which in all its versions has been popular among our customers. Now in its 7th generation, Rega has upgraded the amplifier with digital inputs.
Highlights of the Rega Brio MK7:
- Compact design
- 2 x 50 watts
- Digital and analog inputs
- Phono preamp for MM cartridges
- Built in England
The Brio MK7 is not just the latest version of Rega’s compact amplifier—it is also the most advanced to date. The British engineers have made a comprehensive redesign of the entire amplifier circuit and optimized its performance, including reducing distortion. The Brio MK7 also follows Rega’s new design language, which, compared to the previous version, is slightly more angular with clean lines. The chassis remains a half-width design, making it easy to integrate into a living room setup. This amplifier is an ideal match for a Planar 2 or Rega Planar 3 turntable, and when combined with a pair of small bookshelf speakers, it forms a truly powerful music system.
Versatile connectivity
The compact amplifier from Rega features inputs for almost everything, including three analog RCA inputs and a dedicated RCA input for turntables with an MM cartridge. This means you don’t need to invest in an external RIAA preamp to get sound from your vinyl records. Unlike the previous version of the Rega Brio, this 7th edition is equipped with a Rega-developed D/A converter. You get two digital inputs, which can be used for a streamer, CD player, or another digital source, using either coaxial S/PDIF or optical TosLink. The internal DAC supports PCM data up to 24-bit/192kHz but does not support more advanced audio formats like DSD. On the front panel, there is also a 3.5mm headphone output, powered by a separate circuit designed specifically for this purpose.
Drives most speakers
The amplifier's output power is 2 x 50 watts at 8 ohms and 72 watts at 6 ohms, making it capable of driving most bookshelf speakers to an impressive level. The amplifier is equipped with an automatic standby function that puts it to sleep after one hour without detecting a signal. However, this feature can be disabled if you prefer to control the power manually. Additionally, there is a temperature-based shutdown function that turns off the amplifier if it overheats due to excessive volume. The Rega Brio MK7 can be controlled via the input selector and volume control on the front panel, but a remote control is also included in the package, so you don’t have to get up to adjust the settings.
The Rega Brio MK7 is an excellent foundation for a high-quality Hi-Fi system at an affordable price. Like the rest of Rega’s products, this amplifier is also made in England, which is rare in this price range.
