Since its launch in 1998, Meridian's 800 series has served as a platform for demonstrating surround sound, DVD, CD, and network playback at the absolute reference class. The Meridian 818v3, the latest addition to the series, is certainly no exception. In a Roon or Sooloos system, the 818v3 functions as an "audio endpoint," allowing you to easily send music from Tidal or your music files into your living room. You simply open the app on your iPad, and the system springs to life with plenty of music.
The Meridian 818v3 is built from the ground up to provide the very best conditions for audiophile music playback. Its magnetically isolated chassis, carefully considered placement and design of the internal DAC boards, and linear transformer prepare it for music of exceptional quality. The unit utilizes upsampling, triple-FIFO buffering, and Meridian's Apodizing filter, enabling high-resolution sound from standard digital formats. The Apodizing filter eliminates many issues related to pre-ringing and phase shift in minimum phase or linear phase filters, which are traditionally used in DACs during digital playback to avoid aliasing, or digital noise. All of this is set automatically, without user input, so you can simply enjoy the music.
The Meridian 818v3 is, of course, MQA-ready and can both decode and render MQA to its maximum potential, bringing the artist directly into your living room. When used with Meridian's Special Edition DSP speakers, the speakers will function as a renderer. Available in black and optional RAL colors for an additional fee. Contact us for more information.
