TEAC PE-505
Balanced phono stage
TEAC's half-width 500 series also includes an amazing phono amplifier, with a beautiful, retro design, lots of features and incredible sound. The TEAC PE-505 is a balanced construction throughout, from input to output using the XLR connections. But even the RCA input can benefit from this design, which contributes to less noise and reduced harmonic distortion.
The EQ circuit supports both RIAA, Decca and Columbia curves, with a deviation from the standard of only 0.05dB at RIAA. The TEAC PE-505 is compatible with MM as well as MC cartridges, with extensive adjustment and customization options for the respective types. A demagnetization function is even built in here, which can 'reset' the magnets in moving coil pickups, by simply activating the function and playing a record for 30 seconds. The TEAC PE-505 is constructed in a sturdy cabinet, and on the front, in addition to various buttons, you'll also find a measuring function. It is not just visually cool, but actually a useful function such as makes it possible to measure the resistance of a pickup, including the resistance of the cable, so that you can get the most correct setting on the phono pre-amplifier.
All controls are easily accessible on the front panel, so you can easily and elegantly adjust when needed. You get a really versatile phono pre-amplifier in a nice design, with a touch of retro Hi-Fi, stuffed with modern components. Whether you use a MM or MC cartridge, balanced or unbalanced connection, you can be certain that you'll get a fantastic reproduction of your vinyl records. If you want to expand the system, it can also be done, as TEAC's Reference 500 series includes everything from amplifiers to CD players and DACs.
