With the SL-100C from Technics, you get a stable, user-friendly turntable complete with a cartridge and the ability to play both 33 and 45 RPM vinyl records. The Technics SL-100C is the most affordable Hi-Fi turntable in the Technics range, offering many of the technologies found in their larger models. It features direct-drive technology, where the platter is mounted directly on the motor to deliver stable rotations with high precision. The platter is constructed with a two-layer aluminum design, with a layer of sound-deadening rubber on the back to eliminate unwanted resonance. The plinth, or turntable chassis, weighs just over 10 kg and is mounted on effective damping feet, providing an incredibly stable solution.
The tonearm on the Technics SL-100C is an S-shaped design mounted on high-precision bearings to ensure optimal movement, allowing the cartridge to accurately track the groove of the vinyl record. This is crucial for the proper retrieval of information embedded in the vinyl. As a rare feature in this price range, the Technics SL-100C is equipped with an auto-lift function, which automatically raises the arm when the cartridge reaches the end of the record. The turntable comes ready to use with a high-quality Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge. If you wish to upgrade it at any point, it's not a problem as the tonearm can be height-adjusted within 6mm. The cartridge is mounted on the arm with a headshell that can be easily detached by loosening it with your fingers. This also allows for switching between multiple cartridges easily. A dust cover is included.
The turntable does not have a built-in RIAA phono preamp. If your amplifier does not have a dedicated turntable input, you will need a separate RIAA preamp between the turntable and the amplifier. You can view the selection here. You can also browse all our turntables here.
