Rega Naia
Roy Gandy's turntable masterpiece
The Rega Naia is a statement masterpiece and the best turntable Rega offers in more than a few prototypes. It is a turntable based on Rega's in-house development model for their latest and most advanced technology: the Naiad. The Naia cuts away more than a 'd' and Rega has succeeded in creating a turntable with 95% of the performance of the Naiad at 30% of the price. Naia is thus a masterpiece on several points - because what is the point of creating a fantastic record player that no one can buy? By all means, Naia is still Rega's most expensive record player ever – but it's something to dream about. Even in the ultra-high-end category, where the Naia so obviously belongs, Rega is extremely serious about value for money. You can take the ‘d’ out of the Naiad, but you certainly can't take Roy Gandy's values out of Rega.
Reference-class performance
The Rega Naia is a Formula 1 race car made for driving the streets. There are no compromises, only solutions to make it usable in everyday life. But a brief look under the hood reveals nothing but extremely exotic materials and near-genius technical solutions that provide completely unique, new perspectives on analog problems that were previously unthinkable. The combination between the Tancast foam and the carbon fiber plinth is one of these solutions, which ensures a plinth that, from the perspective of the vibrations that must be directed away from it, is almost infinitely stiff and so light that the vibrations only deposit very little energy in the material. In a Rega, it is extremely important that entire turntable facilitates as much as possible, that the vibrations from the phono cartridge and the motor are conducted all the way out through the feet in the plinth, and that they cause as few problems as possible in that process.
The best engineering offered by Rega
Almost everywhere in Naia, Rega has developed completely new solutions that were previously unattainable for them. The center bearing, so important to ensure noise-free playback, is enhanced with a zirconium-reinforced ceramic suspension, while the arm, Rega's holy grail, is created in pure, all-cast aluminum to achieve the ultimate package of lightness and stiffness, with zero vibration goes into resonance. At the same time, with the titanium bearing, Rega has reached the limit of how little play their measuring instruments can actually measure. You also have a counterweight in tungsten, reinforcements of the plinth in ceramic and a more complex platter in the same ceramic material, which are among some of the ideas that have become reality from Naiad to Naia.
Plays well with Rega's phonostage and cartridge
There is no phonostage or cartridge on the market today that is too good for the Rega Naia - but even if you can spend more money on those than on the Naia itself, we would recommend that you consider Rega's own Aura phono stage and Aphelion II cartridge. Both parts are as if made for Naia and perform with such synergy that openness, dynamics and the completely clean and clear tonality become obvious to an almost ridiculous level. The music simply arises effortlessly through the exquisite components; Aphelion, Naia and Aura and are created with such nerve and intensity in your listening room that you simply must surrender to the experience. Nothing can prepare you for the experience of Rega Naia – just like no other record player can surprise you once you've heard it.
