HiFi Rose RD160
High-end Digital-to-analog Converter
The RD160 is the first dedicated DAC from HiFi Rose, and what a debut! This is a top-tier D/A converter equipped with a full range of digital inputs. And yes, the front panel features a live display that lets you easily monitor input selection, filters, sample rates, clock status, and more.
All the Digital Inputs You Need on the HiFi Rose RD160
HiFi Rose RD160 offers every input type one could desire in a DAC. From the familiar TosLink and coaxial S/PDIF to the more exotic AES/EBU and I2S, there are options to connect a wide range of digital sources. The DAC even includes inputs for an external clock, although it already features an advanced OCXO clock to ensure extremely precise handling of digital signals. The SFP USB input is electrically isolated from the source, designed with a converter that transforms the incoming signal to optical USB, effectively eliminating any noise in the signal path. When combined with the HiFi Rose RS130, which also uses optical USB, it provides the purest possible signal path between streamer and DAC.
Advanced Upsampling and Filters
Among the many features of the HiFi Rose RD160 are advanced upsampling and a range of digital filters. Incoming signals can also be converted to PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, or DSD up to 22.6MHz. In addition, six different filters adjust the signal’s impulse response. Both features can be easily configured using a dedicated button and a user-friendly display on the large AMOLED screen. The RD160 has a fully balanced design, with dedicated signal processing for the right and left channels. Each channel is equipped with an AKM AK4191EQ for initial delta-sigma conversion and digital filtering, followed by an AKM AK4499EX chipset for digital-to-analog conversion.
High-Quality Components
As we’ve come to expect from HiFi Rose products, the RD160 is packed with the highest-grade components. Among these are high-quality J-FET operational amplifiers. Strategic internal cabling uses OFC copper cables, with OCC copper cables in the unbalanced output stage. Power supplies are custom designed by HiFi Rose to deliver the absolute highest sound quality. There are three separate power supplies that independently power the left and right channels and the digital input stage.
The HiFi Rose RD160 comes in black or silver, including a remote control.
