Yamaha R-N600A
Stereo receiver with streaming
With the Yamaha R-N600A, you get a fully equipped stereo receiver, i.e., combined amplifier and radio receiver, with a whole range of modern features. The R-N600A is the successor to the popular R-N602, and has, among other things, received an upgrade on the DAC part, which is now based on a ESS Sabre ES9010K2M chipset, with superior signal-to-noise ratio. This means that all incoming digital signals, from both physical inputs and streaming, can benefit from the improved digital-to-analog conversion.
Yamaha R-N600A with MusicCast
This receiver supports Yamaha's excellent MusicCast streaming platform, which allows for multiroom functionality with other compatible Yamaha products, enabling you to play music wirelessly in several rooms, actually up to 10 zones in total. MusicCast supports a variety of streaming services, including Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and Qobuz. It's all tied together by the free MusicCast app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices. In addition, you also get access to an Internet radio function, which offers thousands of radio channels that can be streamed via the Internet. If you are more into the classic FM signal, then that is certainly also an option, as that function is part of the Yamaha R-N600A. Finally, there is also a DAB/DAB+ receiver on board. So, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the many radio stations out there.
Local streaming and USB
MusicCast from Yamaha also allows for music playback from hard drives on your local network, and there is broad support in terms of file formats and quality. Everything from compressed MP3 to high-resolution DSD files in 11.2MHz studio quality can be played via MusicCast. Since the R-N600A also has a USB input on the front, you can also connect a USB disk directly to the receiver and play the files on the disk. In addition to MusicCast, you can also stream to this stereo receiver from your computer or smart device, via AirPlay if you have Apple products, or via Bluetooth if you have Android or PC.
Physical inputs, digital and analog
The Yamaha R-N600A also has a whole range of physical inputs so you can connect your other audio sources. There are as many as four single-ended analogue inputs which can be used for e.g., a CD player. There has also been made room for a built-in phono stage, so you can connect your turntable directly to the R-N600A, without the need for additional amplification. On the digital side you will find two optical TosLink inputs and two coaxial S/PDIF. If you have, for example, a CD player where the sound may not be quite up to par, you can connect it digitally to the R-N600A and let the internal ESS Sabre DAC in the receiver handle the D/A conversion. On the output side, there is a subwoofer output for a powered subwoofer, and you will find an output for headphones on the front of the receiver.
High-quality in design and performance
Yamaha has always been known for good sound quality – also in the lower price range. It goes again in the R-N600A, which is built on all the experience Yamaha has built up over more than 60 years of developing Hi-Fi products. Yamaha R-N600A uses i.a. the legendary ToP-ART concept, which ensures high signal integrity using short, direct signal paths in a rigid cabinet with anti-vibration properties. The amplifier can deliver 2 x 80 watts into 8 Ohms, and with the A/B outputs you can connect two sets of speakers, or bi-amp a single pair. With the addition of the ESS Sabre ES9010K2M, Yamaha has again raised the bar for sound quality in the price range, and with thoughts on the wide functionality that the R-N600A offers, this is a stereo receiver that can bring music joy to many homes, to an extremely affordable price.
