Eversolo Play
Compact amplifier with streaming
Eversolo continues its determined development of Hi-Fi products that combine modern features, solid performance, and affordable pricing. Play is, at the time of writing, the latest addition to the lineup and is an integrated amplifier offering many features desired by modern music enthusiasts, including a comprehensive streaming platform and phono preamp.
Highlights of Eversolo Play:
- Powerful Class-D design in a compact size
- Extremely comprehensive streaming platform
- Phono input
- HDMI with ARC
- 5.5” large touch-sensitive screen
- App control and multi-room functionality
Eversolo Play offers many features, but the standout is undoubtedly its extensive streaming platform. Eversolo has, in recent years, made a name for itself with high-quality music streamers, and Play draws inspiration and experience from these, offering virtually everything you’d expect from such a product. You get streaming from a variety of online music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, as well as Tidal and Qobuz, both in their respective “Connect” variants, ensuring the best possible sound quality. In addition to paid services, there's also access to a vast selection of internet radio stations from around the world. If you have a NAS server on your network, you can stream music from it via DLNA. If you have a Roon Core, you can also connect and stream music via Roon to the Eversolo Play. Network connectivity is available wirelessly via 2.4 or 5GHz Wi-Fi, or through a wired connection to your router.
High-quality DAC from AKM
To ensure high-quality playback of digital music sources, Eversolo has wisely prioritized a quality DAC circuit in the Play amplifier. It features AKM’s 32-bit DAC chipset, the AK4493SEQ with Velvetsound, which contributes to reduced harmonic distortion and noise. It supports a wide range of sample rates and bit depths, up to 32-bit/768KHz. DSD is also supported, up to DSD512 files directly on Eversolo Play.
Yes, it also plays CDs!
However, streaming is not the only feature offered by the **Eversolo Play CD Edition**. It also includes a built-in CD tray on the side of the amplifier, allowing you to enjoy your collection of shiny discs. The drive is an original Hitachi-LG unit that has been optimized with vibration-damping materials and Eversolo’s proprietary error correction system. Additionally, it is possible to rip CDs directly to a connected hard drive. Beyond that, you can also connect other physical sources. On the back, you’ll find a coaxial S/PDIF and an optical TosLink input—both ideal for use with, for example, a Blu-ray player, gaming console, or similar devices. There are also two sets of analog inputs, one of which is ready to connect a turntable with an MM or MC cartridge. This means you don’t need to worry about an additional RIAA phono preamp—just plug the turntable in directly. An HDMI input with ARC (Audio Return Channel) allows you to connect the Eversolo Play to your flat-screen TV, so the sound from what you’re watching can play through a good set of speakers. The rear also features two USB 3.0 ports, enabling you to connect an external hard drive with your music collection.
User-friendly operation
Eversolo Play can be operated via the large touch screen on the front or via the free Eversolo Control app available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. The app also lets you create a multi-room setup if you have several Eversolo products at home. For optimal sound, you can perform basic room correction to account for the acoustics of your space. This measurement can be done using your smartphone’s microphone, or more precisely with the Eversolo EM-01 microphone.
Impressive build quality
Like Eversolo's other products, Play is built with high quality. The chassis is made of aluminum, which provides high rigidity and contributes to the amplifier’s stability. It also helps shield the sensitive audio circuits from external electromagnetic interference. A powerful heatsink mounted on the bottom keeps the unit cool efficiently and silently. The Eversolo Play amplifier uses a PurePath Ultra HD Class-D amplifier solution delivering up to 110 watts per channel at 4 Ohms and 60 watts at 8 Ohms—more than enough to drive a wide range of speakers, from small bookshelf to mid-sized floorstanding models. If you choose a smaller speaker set, you might consider adding a subwoofer to enhance the lower frequency range.
Eversolo Play is also available as the Eversolo Play CD Edition with a built-in CD player.
