Network audio transport and streamer
If you’re all-in on streaming and you’re looking for a high-quality solution for bridging the gap between online music streaming services and your DAC or amplifier with digital input, the MOON MiND 2 should be a contender. This is a pure transport, as thus does not include a digital to analog conversion stage. Digital signals are output via optical TosLink, coaxial S/PDIF or AES/EBU.
User-friendly MiND Control
MiND 2 is the latest version of Simaudio’s excellent streaming platform, which is also found in the brilliant ACE amplifier. MiND 2 is the basis for all the features you get in the MOON MiND 2 network audio transport and offers, among other things, the possibility of streaming your music collection from a local network attached storage. Everything is controlled using the aptly named MiND Controller app, available for iOS and Android devices, which organizes and presents your album collection in a user-friendly way. MOON MiND 2 supports a wide range of audio and file formats, including PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz (DXD) and DSD when connected using an ethernet cable. Files at a higher quality than 24-bit/192kHz are downsampled to enable transfer via the S/PDIF type connectors on the back of the devices. DSD files are sent via DoP (DSD over PCM) requiring a compatible DAC.
Simaudio MOON MiND 2 is also certified Roon Ready, which means it can act as an endpoint on a network with a Roon server. If you already know about Roon, you probably also know that it’s one of - if not THE – absolute best pieces of software for storing, organizing, and playing high-quality audio.
MiND 2 also supports online streaming services
On top of playing audio from local network storage, MOON MiND 2 also supports a range of online music streaming services, including Spotify and Tidal (both including Connect feature), Deezer and Qobuz at full quality. You also get access to thousands of online radio stations for free, through TuneIn. If you’re subscribing to an unsupported music streaming service, like Apple Music, you can send audio from your Apple devices to the MiND 2 via Apple AirPlay 2. Others might opt for using Bluetooth as an alternative.
The Simaudio MOON MiND 2 comes with built-in SimLink functionality, that lets you connect it to another Simaudio device, like an amplifer, and simplify controls to a single remote control. The CRM-3 remote control that comes with the MiND 2 network audio transport, can be used for basic features like on/off, play/paus and skipping tracks.
