8K Ultra HD and Gamer Features
The Yamaha RX-V6A is ready with QMS*, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) which operates with minimal signal delay. VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) ensures smooth gameplay, and in combination with QFT (Quick Frame Transport), latency is further reduced. The only downside? – You can no longer blame latency when you’re defeated in online games. The receiver is compatible with selected 8K sources. *8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough from certain sources, including Xbox One X, is not possible.
*Due to discrepancies in the QMS standardization between HDMI 2.1 and HDMI 2.1a, the QMS function is not compatible with newer devices under the HDMI 2.1a specification. Read more here.
Plenty of inputs for both sound and picture
There’s hardly anything that can’t be connected to the Yamaha RX-V6A. With a total of 7 HDMI inputs, there are plenty of connections even for the most dedicated AV enthusiast. Digital S/PDIF inputs in the form of TosLink and coaxial can be used, for example, with a CD player. There are even 4 analog inputs, which should be more than enough today. There’s also a phono input, so you can enjoy vinyl records in great quality.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
Object-based audio formats are supported by the receiver, which handles both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. With the addition of overhead speakers, the immersive sound expands dramatically. If you can’t mount speakers on the ceiling, you can use the ‘Height Virtualizer’ to let the RX-V6A create artificial Dolby Atmos height channels by ‘moving’ the sound in the virtual space using up to five existing speakers. *Height Virtualizer will be introduced with a firmware update. Expected Q1 2020
RX-V6A supports HDR in multiple formats
While the transition to 4K and 8K has certainly been welcome, one of the most crucial technologies in modern displays is undoubtedly HDR. With a significantly expanded color range and dynamic range, the picture appears much more authentic. There are several HDR formats available, and with the Yamaha RX-V6A, you’re ready for most of them, including HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
YPAO R.S.C./Multi-Point
With Yamaha’s excellent auto-calibration function, it’s suddenly much easier to get optimal sound in your home theater, man cave, or living room. Yamaha YPAO R.S.C. Multi-Point analyzes room acoustics and speaker placement, and then creates a DSP profile that matches your room. It’s not magic, but it’s close, and you’ll benefit from it, whether you’re running surround or stereo.
Wireless Rear Speakers
Rear speakers are needed to create true, immersive surround sound. But sometimes, it can be difficult, or even impossible, to run cables from the surround receiver to the side or rear walls. You can solve this with Yamaha’s smart wireless speaker system. The excellent MusicCast 50 and MusicCast 20 can be purchased separately and connected wirelessly to the Yamaha RX-V6A. However, they still require power, so they’re not completely wireless, but they’re much easier.
eARC
With eARC, or Enhanced Audio Return Channel, you can use a single HDMI cable from your receiver to the TV. eARC handles signals both ways, so you can send picture (and sound) from the receiver to the TV but also get sound from the TV back to the receiver. Handy if you’re watching a movie on a TV channel or streaming from, for example, a Netflix app on the TV.
SCENE Buttons with Presets
The Yamaha RX-V6A has eight SCENE buttons, which are presets that can be customized to your needs. You can set up a button to start a specific radio station, select an HDMI input, activate a DSP setting, or play a song from a USB device or network hard drive. SCENE buttons are available both on the receiver and the remote control, so you always have easy access to them.
MusicCast – A Treasure Trove of Music
This receiver supports Yamaha’s MusicCast platform. With it, you have an app on your phone or tablet that brings together all the various online and offline streaming options you have access to. You can stream from TIDAL, Spotify, and DEEZER, as well as a local network hard drive or USB device. It supports files up to 96kHz Apple Lossless and FLAC, WAV, and AIFF up to 384kHz. *Online services require a paid subscription
Apple AirPlay 2
Hey Siri – play music in the living room. With AirPlay 2, you no longer have to lift a finger to listen to music. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can simply ask Siri to play music. If you have multiple devices with AirPlay 2, they can all be part of a multi-room system.
