Advanced Engineering and Technologies
Beneath the tweeter is another of Monitor Audio’s proprietary innovations—the legendary C-CAM RST II 3” midrange driver, housed within the same module as the tweeter. The 3-way design also includes two dedicated5.5” bass drivers. All C-CAM drivers are crafted from an aluminum-magnesium composite, finished with a ceramic coating. If you look closely, you’ll notice small indentations on the diaphragm. This Rigid Surface Technology (RST) was initially developed for the fourth-generation Silver Series and has now been further refined. Instead of circular indentations, the new hexagonal pattern increases structural rigidity even more. Inspired by Japanese origami, the principle behind RST II is simple: the stiffer the diaphragm, the lighter the materials that can be used. Less moving mass allows for greater accuracy, faster response, and minimized distortion.
