Compact speaker in true hi-fi quality from Monitor Audio's Apex Series
Monitor Audio's Apex Series is the result of the idea of the uncompromising design speaker. With Apex-series Monitor Audio took all the best technology from the more expensive series and fitted it in, relatively, small cabinets. The flexible Monitor Audio Apex A40 speaker can be used both vertically and horizontally on the wall. The two powerful 5.5 "RST woofer / mid drivers use the same technology as both the Silver and Gold series from Monitor Audio.
This is a compact loudspeaker of very high quality. Apex A40 can be used as center or front speaker and comes with an integrated, adjustable wall bracket. Monitor Audio is, above all, great sound. It usually requires larger speakers as physics and size have a lot to say in this context. Despite this, the British company actually managed to design and produce a compact speaker that's a treat for both eyes and ears. The cabinets on the Apex series is made from die-cast aluminum painted with a nice black or pearl white high gloss lacquer. The rounded cabinet is fitted with a C-CAM woofer / mid based on Monitor Audio's RST technology that most of all resembles the surface of a golf ball. The dimpled surface helps to stiffen the membrane. It enables Apex to provide a large dynamic and deep bass despite its relatively modest size. The tweeter is Monitor Audio's well-known C-CAM gold dome that's also found in particular the bigger silver series.
Sonically the Apex series shares a lot with the Silver Series, albeit with a slightly tighter lower end that doesn't go as low as the larger Silver 1 speaker. Apex is offers a high resolution in both the midrange and top and is the obvious choice if you're looking for a discreet speaker for stereo or surround use.
