KEF KC92
Subwoofer
If you’ve invested in a pair of wireless KEF speakers, e.g. LS50 Wireless II or LS60 Wireless, and looking to add a bit of oomph to the low end, the KEF KC92 could be the answer.
Highlights of the KEF KC92
- Dual 9” Uni-Core drivers
- Sealed cabinet
- Music Integrity Engine
- 2 x 500 watts class-D amplification
- Versatile setting options for integration with speakers
- Optional wireless KW1 module
The KEF KC92 is in many ways similar to the smaller KEF KC62 subwoofer but is designed to deliver higher sound pressure. The KC92 is the optimal choice for larger rooms from 10 to 100 square meters, where the smaller model is the obvious choice for rooms from 5 to 50 square meters. In terms of design, however, the two subwoofers share characteristics. Once again, KEF has created a subwoofer that not only delivers a sumptuous reproduction of the lower frequency range, but also fits perfectly into the modern home. The rounded aluminum cabinet in high-gloss black or white is a pleasure to behold, and even though it is approx. 63% larger than its smaller sibling, the organic expression turns the otherwise solid block into a visually light experience.
KEF KC92 ranks among the very best in its class
A good subwoofer is of course much more than design, and the KEF KC92 is certainly also a subwoofer that ranks among the very best in performance, in the price range and above. As in the smaller model, the KC92 is equipped with two drivers, in this version, however, a full 9”, mounted directly opposite each other, with overlapping voice coils. This makes it possible to use the space in the center of the subwoofer much more efficiently, so you get the performance of a significantly larger subwoofer in a smaller cabinet. The Uni-Core design extends the drivers long throw compared to a traditional construction, resulting in deeper and more powerful bass.
Origami folded surround
The 9” diameter drivers found in the KEF KC92 are developed with one of KEF's newest technologies, the special Origami Surround, which is a strong speaker surround inspired by Japanese origami. By folding the edge surround, the strength is increased considerably, without adding unnecessary weight that would otherwise hamper the driver’s speed and dynamics. The result is a subwoofer that delivers enormous dynamics, high precision and an agile performance that adds an extra experience to everything you listen to, whether it's music or the soundtrack from a movie.
Add the optional KW1 module for wireless connectivity
The KEF KC92 is designed for use with KEF's own speakers but can of course also be used with any other speaker brand. Five settings for room placement are integrated here, so you can immediately get the best out of your new subwoofer – regardless of where you place it. If you choose to place the subwoofer away from the speakers, it might be advantageous to manage the connection between the two, wirelessly. Fortunately, this is an option, as the KEF KC92 is compatible with the smart KW1 wireless system, so you don't have to worry about long cable runs.
