The FX series from Monitor Audio, available in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranges, has always been a popular choice for serious home theater setups. With the arrival of the 7th generation of the Silver Series, the beloved Silver FX speaker has also received a well-deserved upgrade.
2-Way Design with Bipole/Dipole Configuration
The Monitor Audio Silver FX 7G features a 2-way design, equipped with a 6” mid-bass driver and a tweeter on each side, ensuring effective sound dispersion. The Silver FX 7G can be used as side or rear surround speakers. You can switch between bipole and dipole modes, allowing for a diffused sound field where the speaker locations are harder to pinpoint, perfect for an immersive surround sound experience. For easy installation, the Silver FX 7G comes with an integrated keyhole-style wall mount. However, mounting hardware is not included, so a trip to the hardware store for professional guidance on your specific wall type may be necessary.
Advanced C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeters
The Monitor Audio Silver FX 7G is fitted with two of the newly developed C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters, featuring Uniform Dispersion Waveguide II technology. The ceramic-coated aluminum tweeters deliver precise, high-resolution reproduction of high frequencies, ensuring that every detail is captured—whether you’re rediscovering a favorite album, immersing yourself in a game, or getting lost in the latest blockbuster film.
C-CAM Mid-Bass Driver
Between the two tweeters sits another of Monitor Audio’s proprietary technologies, the legendary C-CAM RST II 6” mid-bass driver. The driver cone is crafted from an aluminum-magnesium composite, finished with a ceramic coating. If you look closely, you may notice small indentations on the diaphragm. This Rigid Surface Technology (RST) was first introduced in the 4th generation Silver Series and has since been refined. Instead of circular dimples, the new design features hexagonal patterns, further increasing the diaphragm’s stiffness. The inspiration for RST II technology comes from Japanese origami, the stiffer the diaphragm, the lighter the materials that can be used. A lower moving mass allows for greater precision, faster response, and reduced distortion, resulting in a cleaner and more dynamic sound.
