Sonus Faber Omnia

Luxurious wireless speaker with high-quality audio performance

Italian Sonus Faber is known for their accomplished design and high quality, both sound quality and material selection and construction. With Omnia, Sonus Faber draws on their decades-long experience in speaker design, condensing it into a luxurious sound experience.

Sonus Faber Omnia is an active and wireless speaker which offers ease of use, versatile music functions, and a design most people will appreciate in everyday life. Omnia is a lot of things at once, but most importantly, it is the wireless speaker where the sound quality comes first. It's for someone who may not have room for a pair of regular speakers or may not feel like owning a pair. It is for someone to whom quality matters highly - both in terms of audio quality and the quality of the craftsmanship behind a speaker like the Sonus Faber Omnia.

Sonus Faber Omnia supports a wide range of streaming features

With a wide range of streaming features, Omnia is a pleasure to use in everyday life. This speaker can deliver the goods no matter what type of streaming you prefer. You get built-in TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect, with integrated operation directly in the respective apps. The Connect function in the two apps ensures that the music is streamed directly from the provider and not through your phone, which just works as a remote control. If you do not use one of the above streaming services, you can still listen to music on Omnia. Instead, you can use Bluetooth or, even better, Chromecast Audio on Android smartphones or tablets. If you have an Apple product, you can also use Chromecast Audio, but the obvious choice here would be to use Apple AirPlay2.

If you are a true audiophile, then you probably know the piece of software called Roon. It can be used for streaming a locally stored music library but also integrates streaming services such as Qobuz and TIDAL, as well as network radio. Sonus Faber Omnia is Roon Ready, which means that it can use the network protocols Roon uses and take advantage of its audio-focused software. Roon is also great for multi-room solutions.

.. but also wired connectivity

Omnia, however, is not just streaming. If you have an analog source, it can connect via the supplied RCA to MiniDIN adapter cable. It has a built-in turntable amplifier for MM pickups so you can listen to vinyl records on this small wonder. In addition, there is an HDMI input with ARC (Audio Return Channel), which, combined with a compatible TV, can receive the sound from the flat screen and reproduce it in the Omnia speaker. Decoding surround formats such as Dolby and DTS is not supported, but you can set most flat screens to output a PCM signal that works with Omnia.

User-friendly operation

You can operate Sonus Faber Omnia in different ways. If you use the streaming function, volume, etc., adjusts directly on the device you use for streaming, such as a smartphone or tablet. However, a regular remote control is included, allowing you to adjust the volume, select the input, dim the lighting effects, and switch it on / off. In addition, it is also possible to operate the Sonus Faber Omnia directly on the top panel. The smallest of the four bright stripes is touch-sensitive. With a long press, you can turn the speaker on or off, and the two dots for resp. right and left can be used to adjust the volume. The bright stripe is also an indicator of the selected input. For Spotify streaming, it is green; for use with Roon it is purple and for orange, the HDMI input is selected. It is at once user-friendly and exquisite. It is also possible to access some slightly more advanced features in Omnia - however, it requires a slight detour. Once the Omnia is connected to your network, locate its network address in your router's software, and enter the address in an internet browser. You now have access to change the network setup, enable the auto-off function, turn on and off the EQ settings Crescendo and Loudness Maximizer, and choose whether the speaker is close to a wall or freely in the room. It is also possible to manually check for firmware updates here, but the speaker is default set up to check once daily.

Sonus Faber Omnia is a 4-way speaker in a closed cabinet, ie, without a reflex port. Omnia is fitted with 7 speaker drivers powered by a 490-watt amplifier. On the front of the speaker are two 7.5 "silk dome tweeters with Neodymium magnets flanked by two 3" bass midrange units. At the bottom of the speaker is a 6.5" long-throw bass driver, ensuring reproduction of the lower register to around 30Hz. On each side of the speaker, Sonus Faber put a 1.75" driver powered by Neodymium magnets. The two side-mounted units help create a wider soundstage utilizing the Crescendo DSP.
