Violectric DHA V380 V2 is quite the Swiss army knife of audiophile equipment and comprises three features in one box. It’s a high-quality headphone amplifier with enough power to drive virtually any headphone. It’s a versatile DAC that handles PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256, and it’s a high-quality pre-amplifier with single-ended and balanced outputs.

The DHA V380 V2 is built like a tank and the pro-studio design is inherited from the parent company Lake People’s rich heritage in manufacturing studio audio equipment. The Violectric DHA V380 V2 is designed, engineered and built in Germany, primarily from German-sourced parts. Everything about it is absolutely thought through. From the thick aluminum fascia to the print layout and choice of components. It renders audio with an enormous degree of detail and an airiness that places instruments and vocals in a three-dimensional space, making you feel like you can reach out and touch them. It has huge power reserves and drives the most power-hungry headphones like Hifiman’s Susvara without a breaking a sweat.

On the rear there’s a range of inputs, both digital and analog. There are two pairs of single-ended analog inputs, but the digital section is where things get really interesting. There’s a TosLink and a coaxial S/PDIF that accepts up to 24-bit/192khz signals. The USB is compatible with PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD at 11.1MHz. A selectable reclocking and resampling can be enabled if the source clock is lacking in precision. The front of DHA V380 V2 holds the outputs for headphones and has one 6.3mm jack, a 4.4mm Pentaconn and a 4-pin XLR for compatible headphones.
