Supra LoRad 2.5 MKII, 16 amp
Screened mains cable
Mains cables are arguably one of the most important auxiliary parts of a high-performance stereo or home cinema system. Supra LoRad 2.5 MKII mains cables offer high performance at an excellent price point.
Highlights of the Supra LoRad 2.5 MKII mains cable
- Efficient nylon screen with drain
- High tensile and bend strength
- Dual PVC layered insulation
- Heat resistant PVC jacket
- Meets EU safety regulation
This Supra LoRad 2.5 MKII mains cable comes finished with an IEC C19 connector, primarily used on large power amplifiers, etc. The other end is fitted with a straight Schuko type connector as used in Germany, Austria, Spain and other European countries. This cable also comes as an off-the-reel option, if you prefer to assemble it yourself. You'll find that here.
The budget-friendly mains cable upgrade
Most people rely on the less-than-ideal standard power cables that come with most Hi-Fi separates and focus only on speaker cables and interconnect cables. These are of course also very important, but if noise is introduced into the system via the mains, not even the best cables can get rid of that noise again. This is why the quality of the mains cables is so important. Stop the noise from entering the system in the first place, which is exactly what a good mains cable is capable of. You don’t necessarily have to spend thousands of Euros on power cables. Even budget-friendly offerings like the Supra LoRad series is a tangible step up from the cable that came in the box with your amplifier, CD player, etc.
Efficient shielded design
LoRad is short for Low Radiation, which is one of the properties of the Supra LoRad mains cable. The efficient shielded design stops magnetic and electric fields radiating from the cable and ending up contaminating nearby interconnect and speaker cables and sensitive electronics. The LoRad screen also reduces radio frequency noise from entering the cable and ending up in your electronics. This latest MKII version of the Supra LoRad cable includes Supra’s semiconducting nylon screen that improves shielding properties, tensile and bending strength, has less microphonic effect and is connected to a drain wire. The LoRad cable must be connected to an electrical outlet with ground for maximum effect. Generally, the noise floor is suppressed by several dB, allowing more detail to be revealed. A quieter background, improved transients and wider soundstage are also often perceived when using Supra LoRad mains cable.
Meets high safety standards
Supra LoRad 2.5 MKII meets the European Safety Regulation HD 21.5 S3, and is used in both hospitals, air traffic control towers, laboratories and more. The 2.5mm2 / 13 AWG cable is designed with tin plated OFC copper wires with two layers of insulation, 100% screen coverage in a heat and aging resistant PVC jacket. Supra LoRad is rated for up to 250v / 16 amp current.
