Low-noise, OCXO clocked network switch
The Silent Switch OCXO from Ediscreation is a specially designed switch that is designed to clean the signal from your router so that your streamer gets better working conditions. It is therefore built with as few standard solutions as possible and Ediscreation has instead designed it with very high quality components. Instead of a cheap and noisy switchmode power supply, you get a hifi-quality linear power supply and a discreetly built circuit.
As the name suggests, Ediscreation has also implemented the highly accurate OCXO clock, which reclocks the signal from the router before it is sent on to the streamer. At the back, you will only find hi-fi-grade ethernet ports, which are robust, with good contact surfaces and can take even the most serious network cables on the market. You'll also find a series of switches on the back that, when switched on, create a 'ground lift', completely isolating the router's ground from the streamer at the other end. This provides a lower noise floor and greater calm in the sound.
Although a switch for your system is hardly the first thing you think of, the competent system gives a significant boost in sound quality, and you notice, among other things, more air between voices and instruments, a more well-defined and precise bass and better separation above the entire frequency range. Silent Switch OCXO is not the obvious upgrade for all people, because it is the expensive switch, but for a system that is already optimized with cables, power rails and decoupling, it is one of those upgrades that makes a difference. By cleaning the signal to the streamer, you improve its performance, after which both amplifier, speakers and all intermediate components are improved as a result of a cleaner signal.
