Dynaudio Contour 20i
The Best Stand-Mount Speaker in the Contour Series Ever
With the newly developed Esotar 2i Hexis tweeter and an 18 cm Nomex mid-bass driver featuring extended excursion, the Contour 20i promises an exceptional listening experience. The mid-bass driver was crafted by Dynaudio’s top engineers - whispered rumors suggest they can even hear differences between various adhesives! This driver is made from Dynaudio’s proprietary MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) material, a cornerstone of countless Dynaudio drivers since the company’s founding in 1985. MSP is known for its perfect balance of stiffness and damping, which translates into extraordinary detail, control, and finesse.
For the Contour series, Dynaudio has introduced a new innovation: MSP diaphragms with variable thickness across their surface. This groundbreaking technology is a testament to Dynaudio's position as one of the most advanced speaker manufacturers in the world. The previous Contour series gained recognition for its unique design, including the “floating” cast iron front baffle. In the Contour 20i, the baffle is crafted from aluminum and is chamfered to the cabinet. This not only enhances aesthetics but also significantly improves sound quality by delivering a more refined treble and providing a solid foundation for the drivers to perform their best. That it also contributes to making the Contour 20i an incredibly beautiful speaker is just a bonus.
Contour. Improved.
Dynaudio has gone above and beyond, refining one of the best speaker series they’ve ever created. The “i” in Contour 20i stands for “improved,” and that’s exactly what this latest incarnation of the Contour series is. During the development of the new Confidence series, Dynaudio’s engineers gained invaluable insights, which they decided to apply to the Contour series. Not because it was absolutely necessary, but because they wanted to bring these advancements to a more affordable line. So, what has changed? All models in the Contour series now feature the updated Esotar 2i tweeter, which incorporates the ingenious Hexis dome on the inside. Additionally, the size of the rear chamber has been increased. These updates reduce distortion and improve overall sound clarity. The Contour 20i also boasts an updated Nomex mid-bass driver. While it appears similar to the previous version, it’s made from a new material that sounds better. Dynaudio’s engineers spent countless hours in the listening room to perfect it. The cabinet design remains largely unchanged, as no significant alterations were needed. However, the internal damping has been optimized, inspired by techniques from the Evoke and Confidence series.
Classic Dynaudio – Classic Contour
The Dynaudio Contour 20i is unmistakably Dynaudio and unmistakably Contour, yet entirely new. With its soft curves, airy and clean highs, precise midrange, and tight bass, it’s a speaker that will challenge the competition to keep up. Since the first Contour speaker debuted in 1989, the series has always stood out—among dealers and, most importantly, among the countless Contour owners worldwide who don’t just listen to their speakers but become immersed in the music. That’s what it’s all about. At its core, the speaker should disappear from the equation, leaving only the music. To achieve this, the speaker must be present—but you shouldn’t be aware of its presence. It’s the final link in the chain before the music reaches your ears, and it’s the most crucial part of any hi-fi system. With the Dynaudio Contour 20i, you’re taken straight to the recording studio—face-to-face with the artist, ear to the instrument, with the last veil lifted. It’s a symbiosis of the joy of creating music and the joy of experiencing it.
