If you're looking for a great all-in-one setup and prefer not to have two separate units — such as a WiiM Ultra and an Amp Pro — then the Amp Ultra is likely the perfect choice for you. It offers all the streaming features and amplifier functionality in a single, elegant, and compact package.
Where the WiiM Amp Ultra truly excels is in its wide range of connectivity options. Regardless of your source, chances are you can connect it to the WiiM Amp Ultra. It includes an input for an analog source, such as a turntable, although an external phono (RIAA) preamp is required. If you want to get sound from your TV into a pair of real speakers, simply connect it via HDMI with ARC (Audio Return Channel). If you have a digital source with an optical TosLink output, it can be connected to the corresponding input on the amplifier. All incoming digital signals are processed by a 32-bit ES9039Q2M Sabre DAC chipset from ESS.
For most users, the streaming functionality is probably the most exciting feature of the WiiM Amp Ultra — and it certainly doesn't disappoint! The amplifier is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and also supports wired network connections. Supported streaming services include Spotify and Tidal, both with Connect functionality, as well as Google Chromecast Audio. Via DLNA, it can connect to a compatible server on your local network, and Roon certification is also planned. The WiiM Ultra can be connected to speakers using banana plug cables.
